Since the 10 ASEAN Chiefs of Army had to meet for the closing ceremony of AARM, and occasions where all the Chiefs were gathered together were rare, the concept was to utilise this opportunity to hold a mutually beneficial and creative activity between the Chiefs, which would be an addition to the bilateral meetings according to diplomatic customs. Therefore, the Royal Thai Army proposed and organised a multilateral meeting, with the support of all the member countries, and it has since been the standard practice to hold both activities together. ACAMM has been held 15 times continuously, the previous was held in 2014, in Vietnam.
